Colwood, BC – Solar Colwood has achieved another major milestone: Colwood residents have now taken advantage of all 120 Solar Colwood grants that were available for ductless air source heat pumps. That’s about $90,000 in point of sale incentives on this highly efficient and comfortable home heating technology.

“Our Government is positioning Canada as a global leader in the clean technology sector by supporting innovative projects aimed at protecting the environment and creating high-quality jobs for Canadians,” said the Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources. “By reaching this milestone, Solar Colwood continues to demonstrate leadership in encouraging Canadians to save money while conserving energy."

“This is a great accomplishment for our city. Through Solar Colwood, our residents are able to reduce our community’s environmental impact, support local jobs, and increase affordability for residents,” said Colwood Mayor Carol Hamilton.

Ductless heat pumps are three times more efficient than electric baseboard heaters. With the rising cost of electricity, this heating technology is a smart home improvement option that saves money and increases home comfort.

“Thanks to these 120 heat pump upgrades, Colwood residents are saving enough energy each year to fully power more than 30 homes,” explains Hamilton. “The savings we’ve achieved through the hundreds of other upgrades since Solar Colwood began, such as new insulation, windows, and, of course, solar hot water systems, are even larger.”

The nearly $90,000 in point of sale incentives for ductless heat pumps were made available in Colwood thanks to the Government of Canada’s Clean Energy Fund and BC Hydro.
