Colwood Council no longer offers an annual Colwood Clean Up.

Background about the Colwood Clean Up

The Colwood Clean Up began as a service for Colwood residents to dispose of large waste and recycling items (appliances, tires, wood waste, etc.) when the only other option was a trip to Hartland Landfill. There are now a growing number of locations and companies residents can access.

In past years, the City welcomed between 500 and 700 vehicles each year and received about 70 tonnes of refuse and recyclables. Residents paid a fee for drop off, however fees did not cover the full cost of the program. The City subsidized a portion of the cost of staffing and removal of all the materials that had to be processed and hauled away for safe disposal and recycling.

Local disposal options

For waste disposal in 2024, please consider contacting local hauling companies or visit waste depots such as GFL Recycling or Hartland Landfill.
