Some major earth moving is underway on the South side of Latoria Boulevard in Royal Bay as GableCraft Homes prepares for a new elementary school, parks, trails, roads, shops, services and homes over the next several years.

The Royal Bay lands, which were home to an active gravel mining operation for almost a century, are being remediated and transformed into a vibrant new neighbourhood.

Preliminary steps will be taken toward the future widening and improvement of Latoria Boulevard this summer to take advantage of the heavy earth moving equipment which is on site for a limited time.

This will include leveling the berm along Latoria Boulevard in the area just beyond Ryder Hesjedal Way.

Work on the berm is expected to begin during the week of August 9 with removal of fencing, earthworks and installation of drainage systems, followed by hydro seeding for new grass and reinstallation of fencing.

There may be intermittent delays for vehicle traffic during this work along the roadside.

The work is expected to be complete by August 31, 2021.
