We all need to be aware and take care on our streets and sidewalks.

Last week there were two motor vehicle incidents at the intersection of Metchosin Road and Sooke Road, one involving a pedestrian and another involving a cyclist.

Please use caution as shorter fall days bring dark, wet roads. Always take a second look for pedestrians and cyclists.

Reviewing the intersection

Any time there is a serious motor vehicle incident, staff review the conditions. Two accidents in close proximity have elevated this need.

Staff will be reviewing the intersection geometrics with a view toward possible interim measures (such as signage or line paint) as well as potential longer-term actions geared toward improving safety.
