Traffic delays are expected:
When: Monday June 17 through the end of October, 2024. Daily between 7:00am and 5:00pm
Where: Veterans Memorial Parkway from Allandale Road to Brookside Road AND Veterans Memorial Parkway from Brookside Road to Latoria Road AND Latoria Road from Veterans Memorial Parkway to Quarry Street.
What: BC Hydro increasing service capacity with installation of underground ducts and structures
BC Hydro has advised the City they will be installing hydro poles along Veterans Memorial Parkway between Allandale and Brookside Road, and installing underground duct works along Latoria Road between Veterans Memorial Parkway and Quarry Street.
(Of interest: This fall the City will implement a replanting plan along areas of Veterans Memorial Parkway near Cairndale which were most impacted by BC Hydro work in that area.)
The hierarchy of provincial services like BC Hydro in relationship to local government means that the City has no direct control over most aspects of the planning and scheduling of large infrastructure projects such as this.
Any tree or vegetation management required will be performed in consultation with BC Hydro’s arborists using Provincial standards
Single lane alternating traffic traveling east and west on Latoria Road is anticipated but will be limited as much as possible during daytime hours. Traffic personnel will be onsite during the hours of 7am to 5pm to direct drivers. Please follow their directions, obey traffic signs, and use caution after hours.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
