Terms of Reference
To increase the awareness of all Councils in the Western Communities of the need to establish, develop and maintain equality of opportunity for persons with disabilities in the areas including, but not exclusively of transportation, housing, employment, education and recreation.
One Council representative and alternative from each of the Western Communities; Colwood, Highlands, Langford, Metchosin, View Royal and Sooke.Citizens from the Western Communities who, through knowledge and/or experience, have an interest in advocating for the needs of the disabled. Other elected officials or members of the public are welcome to attend.
Term of Office
One calendar year
The Chair and other executive positions will be filled from the floor through the nomination/election process.
To be held the 3rd Thursday bi-monthly or at the call of the Chair in the Colwood Municipal Hall or as determined by consensus of the membership. (Meetings may be suspended during the summer months.)
Five members, including at least one executive member.
Will be recorded by members on a volunteer rotational basis and submitted to the Colwood's Clerk within seven days of the meeting.
All members are eligible to vote but the preferred method to reach resolution is by consensus.
Reporting Relationship with Municipal Councils
Each Council Liaison is responsible for taking resolutions from the IACDI to their respective Councils and for apprising IACDI members of municipal activities which involve or have an impact on people with disabilities.
