Looking for a place to play? Quarry Park in Colwood's Royal Bay neighbourhood features a three-level castle, a pirate ship, and lots of other nature inspired play elements, all made from sustainable wood and designed to encourage kids to get outside and active.
Built by PATH Developments as part of the Royal Bay neighbourhood on the south side of Latoria Boulevard, the new Quarry Park playground is the largest in the region. It includes accessible and inclusive features to make it welcoming to all youngsters, including an inclusive play structure, rubber play surface, a birds nest swing, an accessible digger, a communication wall, and sensory play structures.
"This incredible Quarry Park playground is the result of years of planning and collaboration between PATH Developments and City staff," said Colwood Mayor Doug Kobayashi. "Community well-being is one of Colwood Council's key strategic priorities, and that's what this new playground is all about: kids and families getting outside and active, playing together in the fresh air, using their imaginations, and connecting with other families."

More park features will open this summer
The Quarry Park Playground is the first of many openings planned for this wonderful 16-acre park.
This summer will see the opening of new walking trails, a bike park, a pump track, and ample open green space to relax, picnic, or play. We're all bursting with excitement for those facilities to open, but for safety reasons they are strictly off limits at this time. Only the playground will be accessible at this point. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Planned expansion of Quarry Park
The City has taken steps to further expand the overall size of Quarry Park by 4.6 acres to allow for additional sports fields, public washrooms and change rooms, an outdoor covered area and space for a potential future community centre. An expansion concept plan was endorsed by Colwood Council in November 2024.
In addition, the park is located next to a school site owned by School District 62 which will offer additional opportunities for playgrounds and playing fields.
Colwood's community-led plan for parks
Creating new parks to meet the recreation needs of our growing community is a priority for the City, as described in the Colwood Parks Master Plan. The plan was created with significant input from residents, park users, and stakeholders and will guide specific improvements to parks for the next 10 years.
