Community members and business leaders filled the room at Olympic View Golf Course to share their support for the Colwood Clinic at the inaugural fundraising event on November 20, 2025.

With over 150 attendees and more than 40 individual donations received, the event raised almost $150,000 which will support the purchase of vital medical equipment for the City's new clinic, based on priority needs identified by the medical team.

Among the attendees was BC Minister of Health, Josie Osborne, who shared:

"So thrilled to join supporters from all over the West Shore to celebrate the Colwood Clinic at their inaugural annual fundraising gala," said Minister Josie Osborne. "Thank you to Dr. Cassandra Stiller-Moldovan and Mayor Doug Kobayashi for your deep commitment to expanding access to primary care."

By community for community

The vision for the fundraiser came from a group of volunteer community members who have established a Colwood Medical Clinic Trust and are dedicated to raising funds for essential health services at the Colwood Clinic.

The group is working to foster partnerships and grow local investment to support the acquisition of critical health equipment for the Colwood Clinic and expansion of health services to support improved access to healthcare in our community.

Special thanks also to Olympic View Living as the Title Sponsor for the event, and to the Beachlands as Gold Sponsor. Our community is fortunate to have the support of a strong local business community as we work toward our shared vision of enhancing health and well-being in Colwood.

"The City is incredibly grateful to the community members who spearheaded this fundraising initiative and put in an incredible amount of time, energy and expertise in making it a smashing success," said Colwood Mayor Doug Kobayashi. "Overwhelming support from sponsors, local businesses, and generous individuals will provide vital new medical equipment to the Colwood Clinic and enhance the health and well-being of Colwood residents."

About the Colwood Clinic

The City-operated Colwood Clinic opened in January 2025 as a new way to support community health and well-being, where the City has hired family physicians as employees.

Clinic staff and physicians are paid as municipal employees, earning a salary as well as benefits, leave time, and a municipal pension. Their time is billed by the clinic through the Ministry of Health in the same way that physicians in other clinics bill for their time and office assistants. It’s an innovative payment model made possible thanks to the BC Ministry of Health’s forward-thinking Longitudinal Family Physician Payment Program.
