    Don't miss this Biodiversity Celebration event for the whole family

    Are you interested in biodiversity and learning more about what’s going on in the region to protect it? Join us on Saturday, October 18th for fun afternoon of walks, talks and a showcase of biodiversity and related projects from around greater Victoria.

    The Biodiversity Celebration will be held on the magnificent Royal Roads campus in Colwood and is and open to people of all ages. Organized by the City of Colwood, Royal Roads University, and the Capital Regional District, this free event will appeal to anyone interested in conservation, enjoying time in nature, and learning about biodiversity topics and issues.  

    An exhibition of biodiversity and regional projects will take place in the Dogwood Auditorium from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Informative, family-friendly walks and talks with knowledgeable, local leaders will be taking place throughout the afternoon.

    Talks and Tours Schedule

    • Birds and Biodiversity - a walk with Ashlea Veldhoen, Rocky Point Bird Observatory, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
    • Biodiversity Planning in Colwood - a talk with City of Colwood, 2 – 2:30 p.m.
    • Exploring Biodiversity with iNaturalist, a walk with Claudia and Darren Copley, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
    • Lichens Among Us, a walk with Tasha Lavdovsky, 3 - 4 p.m. 

    We have the great privilege of living in one of the most biodiverse areas of Canada and there’s a groundswell of effort happening to protect it. Join us for this fun and educational partnership event on October 18th to find out more and learn how you can contribute.

    On Friday, October 17, we are kicking off the Biodiversity Celebration with a free, online webinar.
