What: Road Improvements
The developer of the new Speedwash site, located at 2357 Sooke Road, is planning additional road works on Sooke Road near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway. The work includes paving on Sooke Road during the week of August 18 to 22, including overnight line painting scheduled for August 20 + 21 between 7pm and 5am.
These transportation changes are an interim step as the City works toward the expansion of this portion of Sooke Road to two lanes in each direction as adjacent properties proceed with proposed developments. Over time, this area is expected to see improved traffic flow with an intersection upgrade, including sidewalks and trail connections to nearby parks and trails.
For the current works, please expect delays with a single travel lane in each direction with limited single-lane alternating traffic when necessary during regular construction hours. Night work is planned for Wednesday, August 20 & Thursday, August 21 with a detour via Kelly Road (see map below) to conduct final paving and line painting works. Please refer to the attached maps for more information.
Traffic control signage and personnel will be on-site, please reduce speeds and follow directions and signage. Avoid the area if you can by using the alternate routes. Two-way traffic will be re-opened after construction hours.
Access to all properties in the area will be maintained throughout construction. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
