Sixty Evolve e-bikes and e-scooters now available throughout Colwood and Royal Roads University. Further expansions in Langford expands the micromobility network in the Capital Region.
Burnaby, BC April 28: Evolve E Bike and E Scooter Share is now available in Colwood, bringing new, flexible ways to get around the community and strengthening a growing, locally operated micromobility network across the Capital Region.
Sixty Evolve E Bikes and E Scooters will be available at 15 parking stations throughout Colwood, from West Shore Parks & Recreation to Royal Bay and the Beachlands, with three additional stations at Royal Roads University. Notable parking locations include:
- the Lagoon Beach,
- the Colwood Transit Exchange,
- Colwood Corners and Royal Bay Commons, and
- several sites along the Galloping Goose Trail.
Expanded micromobility options will make it easier for residents and visitors to connect with local destinations and regional routes.
With Evolve’s expansion to Colwood, riders will be able to seamlessly start or end trips in Colwood, Langford, and Saanich, creating a more connected active transportation network that supports cross community travel without a car.
“Growing communities like Colwood must take a multi-faceted approach to reducing transportation challenges,” said Colwood Mayor Doug Kobayashi. “Giving residents the option to jump on an Evolve E-Bike or E-Scooter for some trips will help meet our community’s goals of easing traffic congestion, improving health and well-being, attracting visitors to nearby businesses, and reducing our climate impact.”
“We are excited to bring more transportation options to Colwood residents and visitors, and help to connect surrounding communities with active, accessible ways to get around,” says Leanne Buhler, Head of Evolve. “As a BC-owned and locally operated program, we worked closely with the City of Colwood to prioritize safety, work alongside transit, and deliver a service that keeps people moving.”
Momentum continues in nearby Langford
Building on strong local adoption, Evolve continues to expand in Langford, with new parking zones planned across the city this spring and summer. The expansion includes the addition of 75 new e scooters, bringing the total Langford fleet to 250 devices, up from 175.
Recent rider data highlights the program’s impact:
- 88% of riders say Evolve adds value to the transportation system
- 66% report being more physically active
- 73% say it helps them enjoy their community more
Saanich expansion coming in 2026
Evolve’s growth across the Capital Region continues, with new stations planned in Saanich in spring 2026. As part of BC’s electric kick scooter pilot program, e scooters will be introduced in Saanich, expanding access beyond the current e bike only service area and supporting more connected, car light travel options.
With the launch in Colwood, and expansions in Langford and Saanich, close to 400 Evolve E-Bikes and E-Scooters will be available across the region this year.
Prioritizing Safety and Community Engagement
As the network grows, Evolve is helping communities reinforce the importance of micromobility safety in the communities they serve. This summer, Evolve will continue to host Ride Safe Events in Colwood, Langford, and Saanich. These free community sessions are led by Evolve Ride Safe Educators, trained by HUB Cycling instructors to provide practical, trusted guidance to help riders feel confident and safe.
