What: Road Closure & Detour Route
You may need to wait a few minutes when leaving or arriving in the neighborhood near Veterans Memorial Parkway, Brookside Road, and Latoria Road.
Description of Works:
Construction is continuing, Veterans Memorial Parkway between Brookside Road and Latoria Road. Therefore, both north AND south bound traffic will be detoured onto Brookside Road and Castlewood Road to continue onto Latoria Road.
Single lane traffic travelling east and west on Latoria Road will be maintained, with minor impact to travel times.
Traffic personnel will be onsite only during the hours of 7am to 5pm to direct traffic. Please follow their directions, obey traffic signs, and use caution after hours.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
Details on the timeline for the Latoria Roundabout project:
- The development is on track for completion by the end of 2023.
- Early steps in the project included working with biologists and Department of Fisheries and Oceans to protect Latoria Creek
- Latoria Creek is a valuable natural asset as a stormwater system and natural habitat.
- The increased distance between the road and the creek will better protect the creek from motor oil and road debris.
- The plantings in the naturalized area around the creek will become established over time.
- Next steps include:
- underground overhead utilities
- construction of North portion of roundabout
- forming and pouring sidewalks
- roadway paving
- landscaping
