Hundreds of residents took the time to share ideas for our community

Colwood Council is focused on listening to residents to understand citizen wants, needs and expectations as they make decisions about our community.

The ‘Ideas Fair’ town hall event on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Royal Bay Secondary School was an exciting, interactive opportunity for Colwood residents to engage in conversations and share ideas with Council, staff and each other on a number of topics:

Seniors | Youth | Health | Arts & Culture | Traffic | Sewer Service | Big Ideas

Participants visited a series of stations for each topic with a staff facilitator and activities to have conversations about some of the considerations and share their views in interactive ways.

Childminding was provided by West Shore Parks & Recreation staff so kids could play while parents had their say.

Students from the Royal Bay Secondary music program provided entertainment between 4:30 and 5:30 pm.

“As a new Mayor and Council, our focus is on listening to residents to deepen our understanding of their wants, needs and expectations,” said Mayor Kobayashi. “One way we hope to do that is by hosting an Ideas Fair that focuses on a number of important topics, including: Seniors, Youth, Arts & Culture and Health, as well as Traffic and Sewer Services.”
