FireSmart BC helps you understand your risk and make impactful choices. Simple actions like clearing leaves and needles from your roof and gutters, moving combustible items away from your home, and maintaining the plants on your property can significantly reduce wildfire hazards. Every action helps protect your home and makes your neighbourhood more resilient to wildfire.

Book a Free FireSmart Home Assessment
If you are a resident of Colwood, request a free, confidential home assessment. A trained FireSmart staff member will evaluate your property and identify opportunities to reduce risk and help you choose a few simple actions that suit your home. No indoor access is needed.
The area within 30 metres of your home is called the Home Ignition Zone. What you maintain in this area can make a meaningful difference in whether your home will ignite during a wildland fire. A properly maintained Home Ignition Zone is designed to significantly lower the intensity of the fire and its ability to spread.

- A personalized report outlining the next practical steps to strengthen your property’s wildfire resilience.
- Guidance and trusted FireSmart BC resources to support your ongoing wildfire preparedness efforts.
