CANCELLED DUE TO VANDALISM

The washroom facility in Colwood Creek Park was set on fire last night. Fire officials note that we are very fortunate the grass in this location is still green. This could have been devastating had there been dry grass or brush, with the potential for high winds to carry flames to nearby trees and homes. Thanks, as always, to our first responders and to the neighbours who report these incidents promptly.

We will have to cancel this evening's Music in the Park event that was scheduled for Colwood Creek Park as there are no washroom facilities available for attendees. Colwood Fire will not risk allowing a portable facility to be left overnight again.Watch for the fun Johnny Cash tribute band "Men in Black" to be scheduled on another date in our summer event calendar: www.colwood.ca/SummerEvents

Fortunately the City is planning for permanent washroom facilities in several parks, as recommended in the Parks & Recreation Master Plan at www.colwood.ca/Parks

Colwood hosts Music in the Park performances on Friday evenings from 6 to 8 pm throughout the summer to bring neighbours together to enjoy live, outdoor music and food while spending time together outdoors in some of our community's lovely local parks.

  • Herm Williams Park on Kelly Road
  • Colwood Creek Park on Sunridge Valley Drive
  • Meadow Park Green in Royal Bay
  • Colwood City Hall on Wishart Road

The Men in Black will have you singing and dancing along to their fantastic Johnny Cash tributes.

Kattia's Kitchen will be serving up delicious authentic Mexican cuisine.
