You may have noticed BC Hydro working in and around the community, most recently along Veterans Memorial Parkway near Kelly Road.

BC Hydro is upgrading the underground duct banks in Colwood to increase electrical capacity as the West Shore continues to grow.

Moving toward electrification for home heating and electric vehicles may be one way our community can work to achieve our climate goals.

Watch for work at the Sooke & Metchosin intersection

During January and February, BC Hydro's work will continue near the intersection of Sooke and Metchosin Roads. Whenever possible, the work will take place during night time and off-peak commuter hours.

Between Jan. 17 and Feb. 2, traffic on Metchosin Road at Sooke Road will be detoured overnight between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., down Veterans Memorial Parkway and over to Wishart Road.

While this work is likely to cause some brief traffic delays, it will help to ensure the long term availability of clean and reliable BC Hydro service in Colwood.
