GableCraft Homes is hard at work expanding the existing Meadow Park (pictured here) into Meadow Park Green (plans shown below) in Colwood's Royal Bay neighbourhood, beginning with site preparation, drainage and underground works and targeting completion of the park space by the end of the year.

Once complete, the park will offer a new playground for kids with swings and other play equipment as well as landscaped gathering areas with seating, lighting and artful features.

The City will be further enhancing the park by adding public washrooms and electrical infrastructure for events and celebrations with decorative lighting, an entertainment area and designated food truck spaces. Electric vehicle chargers will also be installed with a pay per use system.

Meadow Park Green is over two acres in size and is an extension of the existing Meadow Park which opened in 2016 at the corner of Latoria Boulevard and Dunlin Street. (Locate it on this google map link.)

Altogether there are five new parks in this first half of the Royal Bay development, plus the Royal Beach Park on the waterfront, and several more planned for the south side of Latoria Boulevard, including protection and expansion of Latoria Creek Park as the new Quarry neighbourhood comes to lfie.

  1. Meadow Park North is a Natural Park with a greenway and trail connection from Meadow Park South to the more formal Meadow Park Green, and beyond to Murray's Pond.

  2. Meadow Park Green is envisioned as a Neighbourhood Park and the hub for play and recreation, featuring play structures, seating, and open space activity areas, plus public washroom facilities and enhanced electrical service for lighting displays, entertainment, food vendors and electric cars.

  3. Murray's Pond Connector will be a small Natural Park with a trail that links Meadow Park North and Murray's Pond Park.

  4. Murray's Pond Park will be a Natural Park with paths intended to minimize distruption to the woods and the pond itself. The trails will create a connection between Ryder Hesjedal Way, Parkside Park, and the existing Perimeter Pathway that runs from Latoria Road above Royal Bay Secondary along the upper Royal Bay neighbourhood.

  5. Finally, North Ridge Park provides a restoration-focused forest and naturescaped Natural Park with a walking trail through the sloped areas connecting the Painter Trail up to Metchosin Road.

Together these parks will create a greenway and trail system through Royal Bay with connections throughout the neighbourhood and into other parks and trails.
