The City of Colwood is reopening play structures and picnic tables throughout the community in accordance with guidelines set out by the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Parks and Recreation Association.

It is important to understand that play and picnic structures can not be effectively cleaned after every use. Therefore, families are encouraged to enjoy these areas in safe ways that protect public health. The most important things to remember are:

  1. Stay home if you don't feel well.
  2. Wash and/or sanitize hands frequently, and always before and after using playgrounds and other park facilities.

Please continue to maintain physical distance of 2 metres.

Yes, the Lagoon Beach is open to visitors

While there is no through traffic on Ocean Boulevard at this time, vehicles can access the beach via Lagoon Road and parking is available along the beach to about midway along the lagoon.

The gate near Fort Rodd Hill is expected to open on Tuesday, June 9th to allow greater vehicle access and parking along the beach. A small portion of the road will remain closed midway along the lagoon until about the end of June.

Throughout the temporary closure of Ocean Boulevard to limit gatherings during COVID-19, we received a significant amount of feedback, both for and against the closure. We felt it was important to open the conversation to everyone and provide the feedback to Council to inform future decisions about the area. We'd love to hear your thoughts about it at LetsTalkColwood.ca/OceanBoulevard
