The City of Colwood is installing a new crosswalk on Latoria Road at Wishart Road. Work is expected to take seven to ten days to complete, depending on coordination with the line painting contractor.

This will be a painted and signed crosswalk at this point. Transportation planning for the Latoria area is ongoing, including decisions about the future of this whole intersection.

This is just one step toward improving pedestrian safety in this area, particularly for students walking to and from Royal Bay Secondary School and people accessing Latoria Creek Park.

Drivers please obey speed limits and take extra care to watch for pedestrians using the crosswalk.

Working with developers to upgrade Latoria + Veterans Memorial Parkway

The City is also currently working with transportation consultants and local developers on the redesign of the intersection at Latoria Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The design will incorporate Olympic View's plans to extend Veterans Memorial Parkway through their property, and must factor in the impacts of future traffic demand as Royal Bay, Royal Beach, Olympic View and other developments in the area build out. More to come on this as plans progress.
