The scenic stretch of Metchosin Road that looks out over the ocean at Royal Bay is about to be upgraded.

Gablecraft Homes, the owner of the Royal Bay development, will be installing a new sidewalk, bike lane, landscaping and pedestrian scale lighting along the west side of Metchosin Road from Latoria Boulevard all the way up the hill to Cotlow Road. (View construction drawings.) There will not be a traffic light installed at this time, although that is planned as Royal Beach develops.

Please use extra caution as workers will be busy right at the edge of the road. Traffic control personnel will help to maintain safety, but Gablecraft does not anticipate any significant lane closures or traffic interruptions. Work will carry on through the summer and into the early fall, starting generally from the bottom of the hill up to the top at Cotlow Road.
