Colwood has received $15,000 from the Union of BC Municipalities Asset Management Planning Program for drainage flow monitoring.

While drainage flow monitoring might not sound exciting, it's an important step toward effective stormwater management and capital planning. Managing how stormwater flows through our community is one important way we protect our environment; reduce flooding to protect people, property and public drainage systems; support healthy streams and rivers; and create a healthier, more sustainable community.

The City completed a Stormwater Master Plan in 2018. This drainage monitoring project will refine the drainage flow model so the City can budget appropriately.

The bottom line: the grant provides $15,000 that the City won't need to spend on this project and can apply to other projects and community enhancements.
