The owners of the Allandale lands on Veterans Memorial Parkway at Sooke Road have been undertaking site preparation work to increase the property’s development potential.

The property is zoned for “Mixed Use Employment” and is identified as an “Intended Growth Area” in the Colwood Official Community Plan (OCP). 

Work is expected to include the removal of some small shrubs and trees, as well as soil and rock removal from lots 1 and 2 on the West side of Veterans Memorial Parkway, with materials being deposited on the adjacent property directly across Veterans Memorial Parkway.

No further details about the owner's future plans for the site have been confirmed. 

Envisioned in the Official Community Plan

Community input during the OCP update in 2017 indicated strong community support for development of these lands (see the third largest node) along with Colwood Corners and Royal Bay. The image below is from an OCP survey that asked people to identify places in Colwood that they envisioned as a future centre of commercial and social activity. There were over 1300 responses to the survey.
