COLWOOD, BC – West Shore Parks & Recreation has engaged consultant Jonathan Huggett to move forward with several recommendations from an organizational review that was undertaken by the owner municipalities in early 2018.

The consultant will identify ways to ensure West Shore Parks & Recreation continues to take a sustainable approach to providing diverse and affordable sports and recreation facilities and programs. Community benefits, demand for various recreational services, and costs will be considered for all activity areas. Specific emphasis will be placed on the Q Centre, and finding ways to accommodate a wider range of events in that facility. Options for long-term governance will also be presented.

The hiring comes after Councils in all five member municipalities approved an updated balanced budget in September 2018.

West Shore Parks & Recreation operates a number of world class recreational facilities and programs, including the Q Centre Arena, the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre Pool, Arena, Fitness Centre, Curling Rink, Playing Fields, Tennis Courts, Volleyball Courts and the Juan de Fuca Par 3 Golf Course.
