The City of Colwood will be installing a water level monitoring system at Lookout Lake to remotely measure and record lake reservoir levels and provide electronic alerts if there are significant fluctuations. This is part of the City's strategic asset management program to assess and manage any possible safety or environmental risks.
The monitoring equipment will be virtually invisible, but the system will be solar powered. A streetlight pole will be installed to mount the solar panel. This will require four bolts to be drilled into the bedrock. The drilling work will be completed in one day.
The drilling work to prepare for the installation of the pole is scheduled to take place during the week of March 12 to 16, 2018. Approximately 7 to 10 days later, the pole will be put in place and monitoring can begin.
