November 17, 2016 - Join your neighbours for an enjoyable evening of refreshments, information & conversation about our community.

We need the people who live and work in Colwood to get involved in creating an updated official community plan. It will shape the future of Colwood - where and how town centres are created; which areas see new development and which areas are preserved; what the streets, parks, waterfront and public spaces will look like; and the quality of life we enjoy. Read more about the Official Community Plan update at www.colwood.ca/MakingWaves.

This evening's topic - Successful Cities & Happening Places

Dave Witty, architect, planner and Vice President at Vancouver Island University, will kick the evening off by expanding our thinking about what makes cities livable and how 'happening places' are created. Can you envision a town centre that has buildings connected to safe streets and attractive public spaces that would make you want to wander and explore, socialize and relax? How do we make that a reality? (Please note: Dr. Witty's presentation was originally scheduled for October 27, but he was unable to attend due to a traffic accident on the Malahat.)

What makes a great city? What kind of City do you want Colwood to be? Can you envision town centres in Colwood that would make you want to wander and explore, socialize and relax? What steps do we need to take to make it happen?

Great cities don't just happen - they are created by people who care about their community and are willing to rock the boat to find ways to make their city great. People like you. (Let us know you are coming on the facebook event page.)
