Head to the Lagoon Beach on Ocean Boulevard in Colwood on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 1pm until 8pm for the Royal Beach Eats & Beats Beach Party! It's live music all day with a food truck festival, a craft beer garden, a street market, a climbing wall, paddling, cycling and more! We're celebrating summer with FREE fun on the street, sand, and sea. Enjoy hot eats and cool beats right on the beach with Hatley Castle on one side and Fisgard Lighthouse on the other.
Live music, street food and beach beverages
Sample international flavours from more than a dozen food trucks, including Deadbeetz Food Truck's burgers with a Vancouver Island twist, a taste of the Phillipines from Mama Rosie's Food Truck, L'Authentique Poutine and Burgers straight from Quebec, the best souvlaki and gyros from Greek on the Street, authentic Mexican cuisine from Kattia's Kitchen, plus ice cream, mini donuts and so much more!
Enjoy an ice cold beer or cider on the beach from the Victoria Beer Society beachside beer service. They'll be offering a broad selection of taps so you can sample a flight of local favourites while you groove through the afternoon and into the evening with energetic live local bands.

Flex your muscles on the Eats & Beats climbing wall, which is equipped with an auto belay system to let you down easy, making it a fun, safe, outdoor activity for all ages.
Try out a kayak or stand up paddle board from Gyro Beach Board Shop and Palli Paddle Boards, or go for a spin on an e-bike from West Shore Bikes that will make the trip up from the beach as easy as the cruise down.
Grab some friends for a big beach game with Wild Play Element Parks and West Shore Parks & Recreation. Your favourite mascot might even join the fun — watch for some crazy antics from furry friends like Harvey the Harbourcat, Rocky from the Shamrocks and Marty the Marmot.
Then get into the festival spirit with a henna tattoo by Karmik Henna and take home a fun caricature portrait of yourself by the talented Ryan Forrester of Fun Sketches.
Bringing the beats
Picture yourself with your favourite people, on the beach, in the sunshine, cold beverage in hand, grooving to the summertime tunes of these amazing bands!! And don't miss FUNKANOMETRY dance duo performing between musical acts!
6:30 pm Said the Whale's music is pure West Coast with bright and bubbly anthems and crunch rock swagger shot through with frenzied drum fills and sugar-spiked pop singalongs. Their rich harmonies draw from California pop and indie rock with naturalistic lyrics inspired by the water and mountains of their hometown of Vancouver. They've won a Juno award, topped the alternative radio chart, and amassed a devoted base of fans, all while maintaining their resolute independent spirit.
5:00 pm Victoria-based Astrocolor plays on the edges of funky house, breakbeat, jazz, and ambient, conjuring an impeccably smooth sound that drifts effortlessly between hypnotic instrumental music and spaced-out vocal flourishes. Two-time nominees for “Electronic Artist of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards, Astrocolor’s catalogue has over 6 million streams on the major platforms and a loyal following of listeners globally.
3:30 pm For the last decade The New Groovement has been the funk, hip hop party machine of Victoria. Featuring a full horn section, congas, timbales, guitar, bass and drums, they'll get you out of your seat and onto the dance floor. With currrent front man an demcee Shane Blaq, the New Groovement is committed to 10 more years of funk. Theyse guys bring it, every time they're on stage.
2:15 pm Part funk, part jazz, part rhymin'... Downtown Mischief is a unique collective of musicians who met through the raw energy of Friday night jam parties, They have evolved to form a driving, pulsing machine that explodes with life on stage. An adventurous wes coast lifestyle fuels the inspiration that is apparent in their music. This emerging band will not only captivate you with their beats, smiles and words, but get you moving and grooving on the dance floor!
1:00 pm OK Charlie brings the absolute best of both the modern and retro pop grooves. Playing songs that fill dance floors, excite crowds, and leave people in the highest of spirits. Formed in Victoria, BC, OK Charlie regularly plays to some of the most energetic and enjoyable crowds around.
FUNKANOMETRY dance duo will perform between musical sets at about 3:15 and again at 4:45! Talented hip-hop and popping dancers Jacksun Fryer and Carlow Rush from here on Vancouver Island were recently featured on America's Got Talent Season 17!
Getting to Eats & Beats
With two Eats & Beats shuttle buses, bike parking, and free parking all along the lagoon, there are lots of ways to get to Eats & Beats.
Driving to Eats & Beats: Drive to the Park & Ride and jump on a free shuttle. Ocean Boulevard will be closed to through traffic for the event, but there will be some vehicle parking along the beach on Ocean Boulevard. Parking attendants will assist drivers.
Hop on a free Eats & Beats Shuttle: The Eats & Beats Shuttles will run all day between the the event and the Park & Ride at Island Highway and Ocean Boulevard (next to West Shore Parks & Recreation).
B.C. Transit makes it easy to get to the event: Take transit to the Colwood Transit Exchange (Routes #50, #52, #53, #61) then hop on the complimentary shuttle to the event. For more information visit http://bctransit.com/victoria/schedules-and-maps
It pays to cycle! Use the free Capital Bike Valet and get $5 Eats & Beats Bucks to use at the food trucks! The Locker from Capital Bike is a safe and secure, staffed bike parking service. There is also covered bike parking at the Colwood Transit Exchange at West Shore Parks & Recreation, right next to the Park & Ride where you can jump on a shuttle to the site. The Galloping Goose Regional Trail leads directly to the the Transit Exchange and the shuttle bus stop, so biking is a great option.
Got your own kayak? Paddle over to Eats & Beats! If you have your own kayak or canoe - park at Royal Roads University for an easy paddle across the sheltered lagoon to the event.
