text - stay healthy

Colwood pharmacies are offering flu shots, beginning mid October, to help keep residents healthy and protected. Getting your flu shot is particularly important this year, not only for influenza prevention, but also to stay healthy while COVID-19 continues to circulate in our communities. A flu shot can reduce your chance of developing symptoms that resemble COVID-19, which would require you to get tested and self-isolate.

Where to get your flu shot?

Pharmacies expect to receive flu vaccine by mid October. If a pharmacy has a waitlist, you will be notified when you are able to book your flu shot appointment.

Why get a flu shot?

Seasonal influenza, often called the flu, is a serious, infectious and contagious respiratory illness. You can spread the flu 24 hours before showing any symptoms, and five to seven days after symptoms begin. Taking precautions against getting the flu is an important step in protecting your health and the health of others as well as preventing our health care system from being overwhelmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is recommended that everyone 6 months of age and older should get a yearly flu shot (with rare exceptions). Learn more about the flu at HealthLinkBC.
