Are your neighbours the friendliest around? Do you love being close to your favourite beach, park or forest trails? Do kids and families walk, cycle and play outside? Do you love your local market or bakery? Give your neighbours a shout out!

The City of Colwood issued this challenge to Colwood neighbourhoods in the lead up to Neighbour Day on May 6th. Being connected to your neighbourhood and the people who live in it has so many benefits! Strong neighbourhoods promote safety, reduce loneliness, and enhance quality of life. They support the sharing of skills and resources — things like tools, child minding and ride sharing. And they create a vital support network if anyone ever has a health or safety issue, or in the event of an emergency or large scale disaster.

What is a Block Party Prize Pack?

The winning neighbourhoods will receive a Block Party Prize Pack delivered to their street on whatever date in 2018 that they choose to plan their neighbourhood block party.

The prize pack includes all the basics for a great block party: snacks and treats including hot dogs, buns and drinks provided by local grocery partners, as well as use of the City's oversized yard games like big jenga, bowling and bean bag games, plus tables, chairs, street barricades, and block party signs. The winning contest entrant will coordinate the date of the block party with neighbours and with the City through a Colwood event application.
