Where can you take a free, horse drawn carriage ride along the ocean by the lighthouse and enjoy live music, vintage dress-up, magician shows, face painting, caricatures, arts & craft activities and more?

The Colwood Seaside Festival at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site offers all that and more on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

Step back in time at this free, family event with fun activities happening in every corner of this breathtaking heritage site by the ocean.

Dress up in amazing vintage costumes provided by Disguise the Limit and take home a keepsake photo of the fun. Be wowed by a magician, and learn how heritage artisans spin wool and take tin type photographs.

The event features live musical performances by three great local bands. Cookeilidh mixes the tunes of Ireland and Scotland with a Maritime flavour and a dash of Folk to make you feel like you are at a modern day kitchen party with friends. The Big Weee brings their own brand of Wonky Tonk that mixes original tunes and bluegrass covers that will have you dancing and smiling for sure. And the Bratz will have you singing along to popular rock favourites.

Local food trucks will be on site offering a variety of food, drinks, ice cream and mini donuts for sale.

Throughout the event, artists will be participating in the Paint-In at the Fort. Up to forty artists will be stationed around the site, painting their vantage point ‘en plein air’. The artwork will be adjudicated to determine the first, second and third place winners, and will be displayed for sale following the event.

The Colwood Seaside Festival is a truly home-grown community event you don’t want to miss. With free admission to Fort Rodd Hill and a ton of free activities, you’ll be glad you came!
