Traffic delays are expected

Exciting improvements are happening in Colwood that are expected to impact travel times. If possible, you may wish to travel outside of peak hours or choose an alternate route.

When: May through August, daily between 7am and 7pm

Where: Sooke Road at Colwood Corners and surrounding streets

What: Contractors for Colwood Corners are installing underground hydro and constructing frontage improvements


You may need to wait a few minutes when travelling on Sooke Road and surrounding streets near Colwood Corners over the coming months.

Contractors for the Colwood Corners development at 1913 Sooke Road will be installing underground hydro services, and then constructing new sidewalks, cycling lanes, transit improvements, landscaping, lighting and seating.

The work is expected to take several months.

Single lane traffic will be maintained, but work will impact travel times. Traffic personnel will be onsite to direct traffic. Please follow their directions, obey traffic signs and use extra caution.

Anticipated schedule of work:

Colwood Crescent frontage improvements Apr 12 to May 19, 2021: Road closed between Sooke Road and Jerome Road – detour access via west

Colwood Crescent. Belmont Road frontage improvements May 5 to May 21, 2021: Single lane alternating traffic – access to 85 Belmont Road through Belmont Road only.

Jerome Road frontage improvements May 14 to Jun 11, 2021: Road closed.

Sooke Road hydro and streetlights Jun 1 to Jul 27, 2021: Lane closures will cause delays.

Sooke Road frontage improvements Jun 28 to Aug 6, 2021: Lane closures will cause delays.
