NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Colwood, at its regular meeting to be held electronically at 6:30 p.m. on June 22, 2020, will consider adoption of  the following bylaws:

  • “City of Colwood Business Licence Bylaw No. 1812, 2020” which repeals Bylaw No. 1617.
  • "Inter-Community Business Licence Bylaw No. 1813, 2020”
  • “Development Fees and Charges Bylaw, No. 1814, 2020.”

Purpose: The purpose of the proposed bylaws is to modernize the Business Licensing bylaw, update licensing fees, and to include inter-community business licence regulations. The amendments will allow mobile businesses to apply to operate across the participating government jurisdictions.

Specific Changes are:

  • Providing licencing options for businesses enabled under a temporary use permit;
  • Providing licensing exemptions for the mobile activities associated with Taxi and Ride Hailing Services; and,
  • Updating licence fees to better reflect cost recovery.

Copies of the proposed bylaws are available below and are available for inspection in person, by appointment, by calling (250-294-8145) from June 10 – June 22, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. excluding statutory holidays. 

Persons who consider they are affected by the bylaws will be permitted to make verbal or written representation to Council. Written submissions, or requests to speak at the meeting, will be received up until noon on June 22, 2020 via mail or email to corporateservices@colwood.ca.
