To implement a cost-effective sewage treatment solution for Colwood residents.

Work Steps

  • Meet with the Minister of Community, Sport & Cultural Development and staff to discuss the City’s position regarding sewage treatment.
    DONE: discussed plans and funding details with Ministry staff.
  • Meet with Capital Regional District staff and local area municipal representatives to advise on the City’s required capacity in the proposed new regional sewage treatment plant.
    DONE: CRD support recieved March 2014.
  • Present known facts and options to the public at a Transportation and Public Infrastructure Committee meeting.
    DONE: proceeded to first public consultation where 79% support Colwood sewage treatment solutions.
  • Meet with Minister of Environment to ensure plans align with Ministry goals and standards.
    DONE: Minister wants sewage treatment for the region by 2020, not interfering with municipal plans.
  • Groundwater study and Environmental Impact Assessment, finalize funding details, preliminary design concepts, continue in accordance with Ministry goals and objectives.
