A team from Royal Roads University Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management has completed a comprehensive evaluation of our city's preparedness for a large scale emergency. Their results recommend Colwood be a 'Role Model City' in the United Nations Making Cities Resilient campaign - a distinction achieved by only 6 other communities in Canada! |  | Exercise Trident Fury From May 3 to 19 the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the Canadian Army will be participating in a training event called Exercise Trident Fury. There may be patrol aircraft, alpha jets, helicopters and transport aircraft flying over our area periodically on missions during the day or at night. The exercise has been designed by military planners to minimize noise and other disruptions. Public assistance is needed to eliminate Knotweed in our region before it has spread too far. The Capital Region Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP) has developed a regional program for this species. Please visit the website for information and reporting: www.coastalinvasiveplants.com (Regional Committee tab: CRISP) or call 250-857-2472. |  | Coburg Peninsula Study Four students from Camosun College have conducted a study of the vulnerability of Coburg Peninsula (Esquimalt Lagoon) to sea level rise. Results show that parts of the foreshore are already subject to erosion during ‘king’ tides and storm surge events, and that predicted sea level rise will increase this risk.
