Your Literacy Connection - West Shore is back with the 2017 Family Learning Tour.
We have an exciting selection of FREE fun learning activities for you and your family to explore! Various service providers will open their doors on January 28th between 10-2pm to get families playing and learning together. Because children are actively learning when they play, experiment, observe, make mistakes, ask questions and listen carefully, we've included some fun new activities where everyone will have the opportunity to explore, unplug and play!
Story Time on the Trolley:
Enjoy a complimentary trolley ride while you listen to our local librarians read their favourite stories.

Storywalk in Nature:

Take a 40 minute self guided stroll and read an illustrated storybook along the way! Start at the trial head in front of the JDF Library (The big rock) All ages welcome!
Fun Family Animal Crafts:

Located in the Kids Cottage at the Juan De Fuca Recreation Centre
Feathers and stickers, and glue-oh my! Parents and children will work together to create a one-of a kind critter to take home.
What will it be? An owl, or kitten? The possibilities are endless!
Colours of Nature-Blackberry Painting and Scavenger Hunt:
10:00am-1:00p.m.
Royal Bay Secondary School (in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre)
Did you know that paint doesn’t need to come from a jar? Our Nature Preschool Educators will help children paint with one of nature’s juiciest treats-Blackberries!
What other colours can you find in nature? Take away our colours of Nature Scavenger hunt and find all the colours of the rainbow in the great outdoors.
