Colwood invites people from around the region to enter the I Love Colwood Selfie Contest.
The contest is open to all residents of the Capital Region, except City of Colwood employees, Councillors and their immediate families.
What to enter
The City of Colwood is looking for simple, fun 'selfies' at locations in Colwood to celebrate the community and environment we treasure.
How to enter
Images can be submitted through the I Love Colwood photo contest page, the Community Photo Gallery on the www.Colwood.ca website or by using hashtag #ilovecolwood on twitter or instagram.
Selecting Prize Winners
All images will be displayed on the I Love Colwood photo contest page. On the last day of each week (Saturday, May 10, 2014; Saturday, May 17, 2014; Saturday, May 24, 2012; and Saturday, May 31, 2014) the top 5 images (those with the highest number of votes on the contest page) will be presented for adjudication by Mayor Carol Hamilton and the City's Chief Administrative Officer, who will select a weekly favourite.
Representatives of the City of Colwood and their immediate family members are encouraged to submit their selfies, but are not eligible to win prizes.
The following criteria will be taken into account during the adjudication process:
- a Colwood location is represented in the image
- the image is a true 'selfie' with one or more faces pictured within in
- the image conveys positive energy and makes you smile
The weekly winner will be contacted by email and awarded a weekly prize. Once an individual has been awarded a weekly prize, they cannot be entered for another weekly prize, but are eligible for the final grand prize.
For the final grand prize draw, the 15 images with the highest number of votes on the contest page will be presented for adjudication by Mayor Carol Hamilton and the City's Chief Administrative Officer, James Moller, who will select the final grand prize winner using the same selection criteria noted above.
The City of Colwood shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the adjudication team are final.
Deadlines
Online entries can be uploaded starting on April 21, 2014. Deadline for submitting entries is 11:59 pm, May 31, 2014.
Entrants may be asked to supplement their submission (such as a paragraph about their photo), anytime on or after May 31, 2013.
Weekly winners will be announced on the www.colwood.ca website by the following Tuesday and the grand prize winner will be announced Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
Colwood reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
Your Rights
Thank you for helping to promote the City of Colwood as a beautiful and vibrant place to live, work and play.
You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit -- including ownership if applicable. You only grant the City of Colwood rights to your photograph if you are a weekly winner or grand prize winner. Before you are announced a winner in the contest, a City of Colwood representative will contact you to confirm that you wish to grant us rights to your image as described below.
If your image is formally awarded a prize by the competition you grant the City of Colwood a royalty-free, nonexclusive right, in perpetuity, to:
- Use the photograph on the Internet in support of our mission.
- Use the photograph in the City of Colwood's non-commercial communications.
- Use your name in connection with the Photo Contest.
- Keep the files provided, and to archive the images on CD or in other electronic forms, so that your photos can be used to support our mission and be properly credited.
