When you add up all the time that Rodger Kobierski, his wife Pat and their kids have provided as volunteer members of the Emergency Planning Committee and volunteering with the amateur radio operators in Colwood, it totals an astonishing 50 years! That is dedication.

Rodger is the Emergency Communications Coordinator who arranges training, scheduling and support for the amateur radio operators who provide communications for our City in emergency situations. Their expertise with radio operations provides a critical link with other municipalities, provincial and federal agencies as well as partners such as the Red Cross. Most of Colwood's amateur radio operators train and work out of Colwood City Hall, with a satellite group at Juan de Fuca Seniors Centre.

Rodger and his family received special recognition at volunteer celebrations hosted by the City in December 2014 to acknowledge the valuable contributions the many dedicated volunteers make in our community.
